Lithium Battery Safety, Warranty & Service Life Statement

This statement is formulated in accordance with the U.S. Product Liability Law, relevant industry standards of lithium-ion batteries (UL 2271/UL 2849) and our product after-sales policies. It clarifies the warranty period, normal service life of the lithium battery equipped with our electric scooters, and prominently warns of fire risks caused by battery aging. All users are required to read and comply with the following provisions carefully.

1. Official Battery Warranty Period

The lithium battery of our electric scooter is covered by a 12-month limited warranty (calculated from the date of product purchase and delivery confirmation).

  • Within the warranty period, if the battery malfunctions due to manufacturing defects only (excluding human improper use, maintenance or external damage), we will provide free repair or replacement services in accordance with the warranty policy.

  • Upon expiration of the warranty period, the free warranty liability shall be terminated automatically. We may provide paid battery inspection, repair or replacement services at the user's request, and the specific service terms can be consulted with our official customer service.

2. Normal Service Life of Lithium Battery

Based on the general technical standards of the U.S. lithium-ion battery industry, combined with the characteristics of our battery cells and actual usage test data, the normal designed service life of the scooter lithium battery is about 3-4 years.
This service life is based on the premise of standard use and maintenance: daily moderate riding, charging with original chargers only, storing in a dry environment with temperature between 0°C and 25°C, and no physical damage or modification to the battery.
Improper use or maintenance will drastically shorten the battery's service life to just 1-2 years. The actual aging speed of the battery will be significantly affected by personal usage habits and environmental factors. Frequent over-power riding, charging with non-original chargers, long-term storage in extreme high/low temperature, battery water ingress, collision or unauthorized modification will accelerate battery aging and result in an actual service life of less than 3 years.

3. Battery Service Life & Maintenance Recommendations

Under normal and proper use and maintenance, the lithium battery equipped with this vehicle generally has a service life of approximately 3–4 years.

Tips to Extend Battery Life

  • Shallow charging and discharging: Charge as needed and try to keep the battery level between 20% and 80%. Avoid frequently charging from 0% to 100%.
  • Avoid storing the battery fully discharged: When not used for a long period, keep the battery at approximately 50% charge and recharge it every 1–2 months.
  • Pay attention to temperature: Do not charge immediately after exposure to strong sunlight. In winter, charge indoors in a warm environment whenever possible. Extreme temperatures accelerate battery aging.
Note: The 12-month battery warranty is intended to fully cover manufacturing defects and early failure (battery capacity not lower than 80%). After the warranty period ends, natural capacity degradation is a normal physical characteristic of lithium batteries and is not considered a manufacturing defect.

4. Critical Fire Risk Warning for Aging Batteries

Lithium battery is a consumable component. After exceeding the normal service life or showing obvious aging signs, the battery will pose an extremely high risk of spontaneous combustion and fire, and the risk coefficient will rise exponentially with the increase of aging degree.
The core safety hazard of aging batteries comes from the performance degradation of internal cells: the activity of positive and negative electrode materials decreases, the diaphragm ages and breaks, the electrolyte decomposes to produce flammable and explosive gases. In addition, the failure of the protection circuit makes it impossible to effectively control overcharging, overdischarging, short circuit and other problems. Even normal charging, low-speed riding or static storage may trigger thermal runaway of the cells, leading to battery fire or spontaneous combustion, and causing personal injury and property loss.

5. Mandatory Recommendations for Aging Batteries

To protect your life and property safety, we strongly recommend that you immediately stop using the battery and contact a professional qualified institution for inspection and replacement when the battery has been used for 3 years, or shows any of the following aging signs (even if it can still supply power normally):

  • The battery range is drastically reduced (50% or more lower than the brand-new state);

  • The battery case is swollen, deformed, cracked or leaking;

  • Abnormal heating during charging (temperature is significantly higher than the normal state), or the charging speed is suddenly too fast/slow;

  • Sudden power cut or unstable power during riding (excluding faults of other scooter components);

  • The battery cannot be charged or loses power instantly after being idle for a period of time.

6. Legal Liability Statement (In Accordance with U.S. Laws)

  1. We have fulfilled our statutory obligations of product quality assurance and safety risk warning in accordance with the U.S. Product Liability Law, Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and other relevant laws. The above warranty period, service life and risk warnings are all in line with U.S. national and industry standards, and have been clearly informed to users through this statement.

  1. We shall not bear any product liability, tort liability or compensation liability for any fire, spontaneous combustion, property loss or personal injury caused by: using the battery beyond its normal service life; improper use/maintenance (including unauthorized modification, use of non-original accessories, storage in harsh environments, etc.); or failure to replace the aging battery in a timely manner. The user shall bear all corresponding legal liabilities and losses by himself/herself.

  1. For matters not covered in this statement, the relevant laws and regulations of the United States shall prevail. We reserve the right of final interpretation of this statement, and will adjust it synchronously in accordance with the updated U.S. laws and industry standards.

Warm Reminder

Safe use of lithium batteries is the core of ensuring riding safety. Do not ignore the aging risk just because the battery can still be used. Timely replacement of aging batteries is the basic responsibility for your own safety and the safety of others.

Our official customer service team provides professional lithium battery consulting services 24/7. If you have any questions about battery use, inspection and replacement, please contact us through the official customer service hotline/email on the website at any time.

TERMS OF LIMITED WARRANTY:

This limited warranty is not meant to suggest or imply that the scooter cannot be broken or will last forever. It does mean that the scooter is covered subject to the terms of the limited warranty. This limited warranty is void if the scooter is subjected to abuse, neglect, improper repair, improper maintenance, alteration, modification, an accident, or other abnormal, excessive, or improper use.

Damage resulting from normal wear and tear, including the results of fatigue, is not covered. Fatigue damage is a symptom of the frame being worn out through normal use. It is one kind of normal wear and tear, and it is the owner’s responsibility to inspect his/her scooter. Damage resulting from improper assembly or maintenance, or from the installation of parts and accessories not compatible with the Varla scooter, is not covered.

All labor charges for warranty service are the responsibility of the scooter’s owner. In the event that the processing of a warranty claim requires shipping, any such shipping charges are the responsibility of the scooter’s owner. During the duration of this limited warranty, Varla will either repair any defective frame or component or, at our option, replace any defective frame or component with the same or most nearly comparable model or component then available.

THIS IS THE EXCLUSIVE REMEDY UNDER THIS WARRANTY. ANY AND ALL OTHER REMEDIES AND DAMAGES THAT MAY OTHERWISE BE APPLICABLE ARE EXCLUDED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES. THIS IS THE ONLY WARRANTY MADE BY VARLA ON ITS FRAMES AND COMPONENTS, AND THERE ARE NO WARRANTIES WHICH EXTEND BEYOND THE DESCRIPTION HEREIN. ANY WARRANTIES THAT MAY OTHERWISE BE IMPLIED BY LAW INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE EXCLUDED.

This Limited Warranty gives the consumer specific legal rights. The consumer may also have other legal rights that vary from state to state or country to country. Some states and countries do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages or warranties, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. If it is determined by a court of competent jurisdiction that a certain provision of this limited warranty does not apply, such determination shall not affect any other provision of this limited warranty and all other provisions shall remain in effect.

After-Sales Service Standards: Fault Responsibility Determination

If your vehicle or parts experience abnormalities during the warranty period, responsibility will be determined according to the following standards:

Conditions Considered Quality Issues

(Eligible for free warranty service)
Performance failures caused under normal use and maintenance without human factors, including but not limited to:
